Intergenerational support is the foundation for change
Through 6-month, 1-to-1 mentorship programmes, in partnership with Mentoring Matters, we believe we can foster open and supportive dialogue between generations.
We believe that intergenerational support is the foundation for change, and that direct channels of communication are of paramount importance. We know that having someone with experience on your side can make the world of difference.
Additional opportunities, from visual portfolio reviews to writing workshops and group seminars, will be hosted by Rubric initiative and offered both to mentees and Rubric initiative students. These will be hosted both virtually, to enable international access, as well as (once Covid permits) in schools and community centres.
About Mentoring Matters
Rubric is proud to be partnering with Mentoring Matters, a new mentoring program that aims to redress the balance of equality and opportunity within the creative industries.
Set up for candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, the aim is to provide insight, advice and direction via a series of one-on-one video call sessions.
Candidates will be linked with Mentors across different sectors to give a broader insight into various roles and lead to the encouragement of more diversity within the creative industries.
Mentors will be asked to commit to 12 sessions over the course of 6 months and will have the option of participating in the creation of workshops, offering of paid internships and taking part in school visits to discuss the variety of roles within the industry and encourage the diversification of jobs from the administrative and organisational to the creative and conceptual.
